Basement Jaxx groove on with new album Junto

Nearly four years since their last official album release, Basement Jaxx released their new album Junto on August 26 via Atlantic Jaxx/PIAS.

Earlier this May, the legendary producer duo of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe debuted the club-ready, jacking “Unicorn,” the first track to be taken from Junto. It has met with universal praise, working as a perfect taster of what the full length has to offer.

Junto marks the duo’s seventh studio album and the title, which translates from Spanish as together, sums up the spirit of the record and the very essence of the Jaxx’s desire to unify people with their music. “With this album,” says Felix Buxton, “we wanted to do something that felt more at one with the world.” This approach is reflected in the titles of “Power To The People,” “We Are Not Alone” and “Love Is At Your Side,” as well as the uplifting “Never Say Never” and the throwback fun of “What’s The News” and “Sneakin’ Toronto.”

The last few years have seen the pair take time out to write not one but two film scores (“Attack The Block” and “The Hooping Life”) as well as producing an orchestral album in collaboration with the Metropole Orkest. In 2013 they teased out new music in the form of two tropical cuts “Back 2 The Wild” and “What A Difference Your Love Makes” and played a number of their legendary carnival-esque live shows.
