Blueprint for a Space Romance (Hex)

The opening of “Analogue Heartbeat” had me really excited: Strange contortions of rhythms, noises, and a haunting melody flowed out like a brilliant down-tempo electronica tune… then the rest of the record hit. Building On Fire play average metalcore-with-a-little-melody, and nowhere else on the record do they stray from the formula. The bio says they listen to a lot of At The Gates, but you can’t really tell. Sometimes they spazz out a bit, but never to the extent of The Dillinger Escape Plan or shit like that.
