Cry Baby Cry
Jesus Loves Stacey (Skoda/Dischord)
by Tim Den
You gotta love DC. Not just for its tradition of producing some of the best post-punk bands ever, but also for bands like Cry Baby Cry who are able to sound like rock’n’roll’s glorious past and still be original. How do they do it? How do they cram all the sweaty garage licks into the squeaking keyboard lines, the fuzz basses into the Mod dance beats, just in time to wind down for a nice acoustic/harmony vocals ditty (“Condition Mine”)?
