The Joykiller – Three – Review

The Joykiller

Three (Epitaph)
by Scott Hefflon

When the ads ran in every ‘zine known to God (and a few even He’s unaware of, but the folks at Epitaph are hep to) the warning was that the new Joykiller record was “not a punk record and we don’t give a shit.” The sneers of “yeah, right” could be heard across the country. But it’s true. This is as punk as Joe Jackson, if you know what I’m saying. If not, fuck you. Pianos, keyboards, symphonic textures, and fuckin’ congos make Three one of the most refreshingly unpunk releases of 1997.
