PJ Harvey – To Bring You My Love – Review

PJ Harvey

To Bring You My Love (Island)
by Joshua Brown

A war cry on the battlefield of love from the only woman performer who can make an overloaded amp sound good. The use of diverse instruments and styles of music make her blues/alterna-grunge one of the fresher acts around these days. To Bring You My Love has a less noisy, more accessible feel than the previous three albums, but her attitude is, if anything, more caustic than ever. Polly Jean got her start on Too Pure (which brought us Stereolab, among others) and now the American mainstream press is plugging the shit out of the new album, which is why we won’t devote any more space to it.
