Season To Risk – In A Perfect World – Review

Season To Risk

In A Perfect World (Red Decibel/Columbia)
by Karl Geising

Their first 7″ sports drawings by John Wayne Gacy. “Snakes” was inspired by a Harry Crews novel. The latest album was produced by Martin Bisi. The vocalist sings through a stolen CB mic and amped-up bull cone. They’ve opened up for Prong, Pain Teens, and Unsane. They’ve got a lot to live up to. Fortunately, they deliver.

Reviewers have had trouble labeling them; there’s a little Big Black here, some Scratch Acid there, a little hardcore influence, a lot of noise. Beyond this, they don’t really sound like anyone else. That’s why I like them. They formed four years ago in Kansas City and have been touring steadily since. Hopefully they’ll decide to come out to this neck of the woods one of these days; until then, buy the album and be happy.
