Cub/The Potatomen split (Lookout!)

Cub have punk guitars baked with brown sugar (not a reference to African American women) and female vocals that snuggle up to you like your cat on a cold winter night. They cover Joan Jett’s “Runaway” well enough that one secretly harbors the suspicion that the jett-black-haired rock ‘n’ roller was actually covering a Cub original. Owner of Lookout!, Larry Livermore’s band, the Potatomen, would make a fun instrumental surf band, but I have trouble getting into the melancholy “I godd a stufd ub dose” vocals.
