The Power of Failing is the first full-length release for this Austin-based band. Mineral mines moody, earnest, accessible power pop territory and delivers it with passionate intensity. A standout track is “Gloria” (wow, what a clever and unused song title!), a tune which is at once spirited and vulnerable. Another nugget is “Dolorosa,” discord sweetened with melody and eloquent, wistful lyrics. Moody dream-pop at its best.
