The Royal Crowns – Fireball Stomp – Review

The Royal Crowns

Fireball Stomp (Kingdom)
by Mark Phinney

“When I kiss your lips, I scald my face…” Now that is dangerous love. This new vinyl from my boys at Crown Central is a slick-fueled ass-shaker full of trademark Kendall lyrics and drag race riffs sure to burn down any rockabilly house party. I can’t help but destroy my room while basking in the glow of a Royal Crowns dance of too-hot-to-trot love. “Hat Size,” on the other hand, is a swinging little number that pays tribute to the many styles of guess-whats and the look the occupant takes on when he or she dons one. The King, Swinger, Lucky Tiger, and the newest cat in the lineup, Nate Moovin Moir, are doing something right in that studio, because they never let me, or my thirst for tattoo-clad lullabies down. Watch for the Crowns in the fall with a CD release, and catch them live whenever possible. They quench the hip-shakin’ live wire that lives in all of us.
