Hard yet melodic, Holland’s Funeral Oration get straight to the point, whatever that point may be. Taking an honest look at themselves and their surroundings, the lyrics roll like a conversation with a friend. “We Stand Near” sums up the attitude, repeating “Basic, so basic. Turn it up real high, High high high…” and stating “It ain’t for the money, We just ain’t that smart, We’re not calculated, Straight from the Heart.” The sound is sparse, no-frills, and straightforward, the lyrics down-to-earth and to the point.
