In Flight Program – Review

In-Flight Program

(Revelation)
by Tim Creter

This is the new 26-band compilation that marks Revelation’s 50th album release. As many of you know, Revelation Records is the label that helped spread the sounds of many hardcore and punk bands all across this great land of ours. Started in New York by Ray of Youth of Today and Shelter, the label helped record many early New York bands like Gorilla Biscuits and Judge, as well as the original and outspoken straightedge bands like Bold, Chain of Strength, and Ray’s Y.O.T. At this point, Revelation also helped fledgling hardcore bands whose members would go on to fame and fortune today, like Zack of Inside Out and Chakra of Burn. As the ’90s progressed, so did the label in their diversity, releasing offerings from Quicksand, Into Another, and Texas is the Reason. Revelation is now stationed in America’s corrupt sweeheart of a state, California, but still continues to push punk to the forefront with the signing of Ignite and No Fun At All, among others. They’ve even reached out over seas, snagging Australia’s Bodyjar and Sweden’s Millencolin (not on the comp). Revelation really is the epitome of what do-it-yourself punk ideals can become. They even put “Pay no more than $4.99!!” on the back of this compilation. So if you’re new to the scene and you need some samples, or if you know what this label stands for, give them their well-deserved props and pick up this disc.
