Twin Obscenity – For Blood, Honour And Soil – Review

Twin Obscenity

For Blood, Honour And Soil (Century Media)
by Martin Popoff

I still wonder how black metal got to be the sound of the Northern woods in winter, but it is not ours to question the corpsepaint. Twin Obscenity are one of the lesser known, lesser discussed acts from the scene, having only an indie ’97 debut to their name since forming in ’91. Many things about this disc don’t excel: the production, the vocals, often the songwriting. But I can see how one could make this a personal badge of honour. There’s a curious and personable old school black metal feel, mixed with old school powermetal sympathies; the mead-swilling gumption of Unleashed swatted with the detail-obsessed bee stings of yer Emperors and Enslaveds of the under-realm.
