Secret Hate – Vegitables Dancing + live and more – Review

Secret Hate

Vegitables Dancing + live and More (Skunk)
by Jon Sarre

An okay band that time forgot, but what’re ya gonna do with ’em when the output’s this slim? Fellow drug casualties Sublime resurrected Secret Hate when they covered their ska-flavored “Ballad of Johnny Butt,” so logically it’d follow that an expanded version of the one EP they recorded is pretty much mandatory. Being both based historically with the Long Beach scene and Sublime’s old label, who better do this but Skunk? Here it is kids, recorded by Spot at Total Access, Redondo Beach (hey, same place where all those great SST records were made!) in 1983, a decent hardcore record circa the first Reagan Administration.
