From start to finish, it’s hard to really find anything on Kaskade to get excited about. With a total of 15 tracks, it’s not all a waste: There are a few shining moments in “The Future Is Now,” “Schall Und Rauch,” and “The Touch.” But one element I find missing is emotional connection. In past works, a lot of Project Pitchfork songs could invoke the feeling it was trying to bring forth, but Kaskade gets bogged down by too much rock. If you’re familiar with the full catalogue of Project Pitchfork, you come to have high expectations that become harder to break with every release. However, if you’re unfamiliar with the earlier works, your opinion won’t be as critical, and you might enjoy Kaskade. The previous work is superior in numerous ways to this lackluster release, and various bands are now doing the Project Pitchfork style better than Pitchfork does themselves.
