As Long As I Can Walk, I’ll Step Out Of Line
By Mike Delano

Boston hardcore crew The Enemy Within is made up of former members of Blood For Blood and Milo’s Syndicate, and the members’ veteran status on the scene shines through on this record. As Long As I Can Walk, I’ll Step Out Of Line swings with the confidence of a band that knows this sound and isn’t overstraining to prove their worth. “All This Will End” has a forceful, mid-paced groove that’s as memorable for its aggressive parts as it is for its intermittent empty spaces. The lyrics have a compelling seen-it-all bleakness, foretelling a dark future with a grim acceptance. “Spasms” is pure Sick Of It All, filtering street-level stories of frustration through rallying chants destined to unify the sweaty hordes in the pit. Songs like these seem like epics compared to the meat of the album, though, which consists of sub-120 second hurt bombs like “No Escape” and “Digging Deep,” which batter the listener relentlessly and effectively.
