As you can probably guess, AFI is a big influence here. But I’ll give the Devil his due: If you can get past the silliness, some of these songs aren’t bad.
A few sweet moments (many revamped songs by The Specials) and a lot of failed experiments from Neville Staple, the smooth voice we all know from The Specials.
Retox has been around 10 years and namedrop RKL (Rich Kids on LSD) and they’re probably drinking buds with Guttermouth and Nododys and swap porn tapes with ’em.
This release combines the first two EPs – She’s Got a Gun and Paranoia – and The New York Rel-X are, as you might guess, straight-forward, old school NY punk.
Their best moments are when they rip, tear and smash with wild abandon, making the chaos work for them, and when they break it down, it’s almost scary.
