Energetic, powerful, and sexy, this is a vocalist to keep a couple of eyes on. Generally guitar-driven pop rock, but the diversity keeps them exciting.
Helium was the buzz band of the night. Guitarist Mary Timony, dolled up in silver sequined skirt and pink leotards, was the undisputed queen of this rock prom.
Playing melodic punk reminiscent of NOFX, only not as fast, they had their moments and, in time, their brand of punk madness will surely win the world over.
Another female-fueled outfit, Dirt Merchants, continued the loud theme at Pearl Street, adding some brooding vocals by singer/guitarist Maria Christopher.
