Amon Amarth – The Avenger – Review April 1, 2000 Brutal, mournful, with lots of pride in their ethnic history, Amon Amarth is an original and enjoyable welcome to the genre.
AM/FM – Audiot – Review April 1, 2000 Makes you want to get in your car on a breezy summer day, open the sunroof, and cruise along the coast.
American Steel – Rogueās March – Review April 1, 2000 There’s finally an American answer to Leatherface. All praise American Steel, the most blisteringly balls-out emotional punk band since Crimpshrine.
Aloha – The Great Communicators, the Interpreters, the Nonbelievers – Review April 1, 2000 Multi-faced, jam-based experimental indie rock with about as much percussive weirdness as Mr. Bungle’s live set.
Agoraphobic Nosebleed – Converge – The Poacher Diaries – Review April 1, 2000 I’ve never been a fan of either band, and I’m reminded why with The Poacher Diaries. Madness for madness sake, spazzing out like a little kid.
Zao – Outcast split – Review April 1, 2000 This is a reissue of the split that marked the debut of both bands. Zao went on to morph into a deadly, moody machine, while Outcast didn’t survive.
XIII PFP – Redefine – Review April 1, 2000 XIII PFP is weird hardcore with a ton of horns (huh?) that doesn’t sound like anything you’ve ever heard. They mix heavy parts and clean parts with ease.
Whippersnapper – The Long Walk – Review April 1, 2000 I hope this is where the future of pop-punk is headed. If not, at least we have Whippersnapper to rejuvenate what’s left of our faith.
Voice of Reason – New Beginnings – Review April 1, 2000 Voice Of Reason is not interested in getting past the Gorilla Biscuits/Fastbreak copycat schtick. Maybe that’s a good thing to them.
