Elastica – Stutter – Review

Elastica

Stutter (Geffen)
by Jen Beatty

If Veruca Salt is getting a bit too mainstream for you, then take a step back and lend an ear to Elastica. Their four-song maxi-single Stutter (DGC) is good for a US debut and worth repeated listening. It’s filled with simple musical lines and repetitive lyrics, but, hey, isn’t that a formula for musical success? Apparently so. In the less than three years that they’ve been together, Elastica have seen a just amount of success in their native land of England. They’ve also recorded for John Peel and performed at the renowned Reading Festival this past August. Elastica are currently working on their first full-length album (due out early this year). For now, get your hands on a copy of Stutter and check it out.
