The Blue Up? – Review

The Blue Up?

(Columbia)
by Chris Adams

Remember that girl in grade school who used to flounce about the playground trying to convince everyone that she was a witch? You know the one who listened solely to Stevie Nicks and jangled around with a lot of baubles, bangles, trinkets, and doilies? Well, it turns out she’s in The Blue Up?, still slinging the same trip, singing ethereal tunes that conjure visions of maypoles, serpents, daisy chains, magic stones and talking toads. And goblins, natch. This record is ideal for those who lost faith in Ms. Nicks when they discovered her “fairy dust” came from Columbia. Or perhaps for people who’ve silently suffered for years at All About Eve’s inexplicable lack of recognition.
