Ednaswap – Review

Ednaswap

(EastWest)
by Joe Hacking

Man, I’m a sucker for intense female vocalists. Annie Preven sings her ass off on Ednaswap‘s (EastWest) self-titled CD. The girl’s got rhythm. For the first time this issue, I can think of no band to offer as a comparison. Rusty Anderson and Scott Cotler have a great time fuckin’ with all kinds of trippy, crybabied guitar sounds and rhythms. Drummer Carla Azar does an outstanding job on drums and Paul Bushnell mixes it up on bass. The combination produces a weird, fresh, hip, ballsy groove that grips your consciousness with its depth. Especially “Clown Show.” You’ll just have to take my word on this one, Ednaswap is a treasured find.
