Slash’s Snakepit – at Axis – Review

Slash’s Snakepit

The show was all ages and I think the younger crowd came to see Slash only because of his affiliation with Guns N’ Roses. The older fans, however, seemed to embrace the new band for its music. Slash must have thought he was still playing in Guns N’ Roses, because, as is reminiscent of all their shows, he decided to hit the stage an hour and a half later than expected. At first, the band sounded a little loose. The lead singer seemed a bit nervous, but relaxed as the night wore on.

After the first two songs, the band settled into a groove. Slash’s and Gilby Clarke’s guitar playing complimented each other, and the percussion section sounded tight. Slash seems to be more comfortable playing smaller clubs as opposed to the stadiums. He interacts more with the crowd and is more willing to take chances with his guitar playing. Catch this band, if you have the chance.
