Supermodel – with Sydra at T.T. the Bear’s – Review

Supermodel

with Sydra at T.T. the Bear’s
by Rich Romaine

Hard, loud, noisy and fun. Sydra has that post-grunge, noisy rock sound that is, for me at least, hard to pinpoint. Dirty, honest indie rock with kinda yelling vocals about everyday, internal stuff. I hear the vocals have gotten much better since they started. This angst-rock trio uses a wall-of-sound to speak its collective mind.

Supermodel closed the set. Their crowd response was as intimate (called incestuously self-serving to an outsider) as any band could hope for. Drinkin’ beer, makin’ jokes, makin’ faces – this band was fun and energetic. Kinda twangy too. Had a bit o’ rockabilly in it; is this what they call cow punk?
