Maire Brennan – Misty Eyed Adventures – Review

Maire Brennan

Misty Eyed Adventures (Atlantic)
by Rich Romaine

Being a fan of Clannad, as well as sister Enya’s new-age lozenges, it comes as little shock that I love most of this album. Earthier and more percussive than Enya, more worldly than traditionalists Clannad, the songs move from soft, breathy dreams to spirited pop. Bringing inspiration from Africa, India, Eastern Europe and blending with Irish folk music, Maire Brennan creates a picturesque setting for her beautiful voice.
