After Screeching Weasel broke up for the first, not the last, time in ’89, Dan Schaefer (a.k.a. Dan Vapid, now of Riverdales) and drummer Brian Vermin hooked up with three other guys to form Sludgeworth. Their pop punk sound lay somewhere between Jawbreaker and the bands Vapid and Vermin had just left and would soon rejoin. Unfortunately, the records were scantily marketed and went quickly out of print, preventing Sludgeworth from attaining the widespread notoriety that their music deserved. Losers of the Year is a collection of everything the band released, and fans of poppy, melodic punk rock won’t want to miss this.
