Red Red Meat – “There’s a Star Above the Manger Tonight” – Review

Red Red Meat

“There’s a Star Above the Manger Tonight” / “Welcome Christmas” (SubPop)
by Joshua Brown

Side One, “There’s a Star Above the Manger Tonight,” is a low key banjo fest with unintelligible slacker vocals. Some may find it a welcome relief from distortion laden stuff, but it doesn’t do much for me. Side two, “Welcome Christmas,” is a chorus of slacker vocals with a tinkling noise that’s supposed to represent sleigh bells. Again, what’s the point?
