A quick rundown of last year’s needlepoint blockbuster,
Trainspotting, for the uninitiated:

  • They run from the cops.
  • They shoot up.
  • They shoot up again.
  • Someone dives into a toilet.
  • A dog gets shot.
  • “What are you talking about?” “Football.”
  • They shoot up some more.
  • A baby dies.
  • “What are you talking about?” “Shopping.”
  • A guy gets a video stolen, dumped by his
girlfriend, and AIDS. In that order.
  • They shoot up again.
  • A breakfast nook gets splattered with dung.
  • People call each other “cunt” a lot.
  • They shoot up once again.
  • The English get called “wankers.”
  • The dead baby crawls on the ceiling.
  • One guy goes to prison.
  • Another doesn’t.
  • Money gets stolen.
  • And then stolen again.
  • They shoot up some more.
  • And then they stop.
  • Iggy Pop and Sean Connery figure in somewhere.
  • It’s great.
