Sacred Steel
Reborn in Steel (Metal Blade)
by Scott Hefflon
This is the downside of the metal resurgence. I have trouble reviewing bands like Sacred Steel without laughing myself silly. They remind me of Agent Steel and all sorts of bands that were second rate the first time around. Perhaps I have no patience for a falsettoed voice missing half the notes and a guitarist cranking away at riffs I played when I first learned how to palm-mute a chugging rhythm, but I’ve got visions of choreographed, Overkillish hair-swirls in my head, and this is only my first drink. Metal Blade is a little behind the bell curve, but they sometimes stumble across pure metal madness. With Reborn in Steel, they simply stumbled.
