Bickley – Pogo Au Go-Go – Review

Bickley

Pogo Au Go-Go (Fearless)
by Scott Hefflon

With the lead-off track on Punk Bites 2 and now this re-issue of their first, self-released album, Pogo Au Go-Go, Bickley seems to be a band we’re going to be hearing a lot about. With a distinctive snarl all his own, Ben Fondled joins the ranks of punk singers you recognize immediately, for better or worse. In this case, Bickley is a manic, group-shouting, junk rock band ranting about TV, teen porn stars, beer, peeing, and butt-sniffin’ clowns. I’d consider this hard punk, simply because of the harshness of the voice and the aggression in the group shouts (and there’re no sappy love songs, not that I hold that against ’em in any way).
