Homeless Wonders – Another One of Those Days – Review

Homeless Wonders

Another One of Those Days (Suburban Home)
by Scott Hefflon

From the musical Mecca of Laramie, WY, Homeless Wonders are one of those diamonds in the rough (the very rough, at this point) that could go the distance with the proper guidance/push. Your second reaction is that these guys are really, really good in that mad riffing way (think Guttermouth, only faster), especially when mixed with horns, sax, and the fake British snarl filtered through SoCal punk and large doses of Screeching Weasel that makes punk bands from across the country all sound the fuckin’ same. Too bad your first reaction is, “Who turned the volume down and flatlined my EQ?” I’d cut a recently-graduated high school band slack (I say that now), but come to find out it was, ahem, “produced” by Joe Carducci and Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins. Gents, reimburse these poor guys and save yer good name! This sounds atrocious! Somewhere beneath your fumbling fingers, there is a sweet-sounding band. Truth be told, once you get used to all the instruments sounding like someone with a really annoying, nasal voice saying, “Ahhhhhhhh,” you can pick out the nuances of this energetic, versatile young band. Just don’t forget to turn the volume back down when you put on the next CD.
