Tricky Woo – The Enemy is Real – Review

Tricky Woo

The Enemy is Real (Sonic Unyon)

Montreal must be [the] undiscovered garage rock city, cuz ya take Tricky Woo and Les Secretaries Volantes alone and ya got two of the better fuckin’ bands workin’ at the moment (and maybe they’re just the tip of the ice berg…?). Tricky Woo here is a nice big hit of Stoogoid mayhem, a dash of Thunders classicism, a shot of Sonics bluster, a dash of Rocket From the Crypt cut’n’paste and a few too many Lazy Cowgirls shows under the belt. They’ve got the screamin’ fury that most bands can only hint at, and it’s stockpiled so deep that who knows where it’s gonna take ’em? Well, by the way the system works, they’re probably only gonna be preachin’ to the converted, which, although guarantee of lotsa great times at great shows, tends to ensure they’re not gonna transcend the garage ghetto. Don’t let’em go out that way, baptize yerself in the piss of Chuck Berry! Repent now!
