Terabithia is the perfect sign that emo is well on its way to the same doom that has raged in every other genre of music. This band relies simply on the stylings of its genre (which in this case calls for mid-to-slow tempos, whining voices, open chords that sound like a blind kid playing) instead of substance. No gut-wrenching, emotionally-charged melodies; just young kids unfamiliar with songwriting stumbling around. Just because you’re playing slow and with clean guitar tones doesn’t mean you’re good, or even “emo.” Oh yeah, and take some singing lessons for God’s sake.
