Terra Firma – Review

Terra Firma

(The Music Cartel)
by Martin Popoff

Terra Firma have found new ways to do stoner rock, by digging back into the past and then off to the left, into jumpy American proto-Sabs like Pentagram and Sir Lord Baltimore, making sure the recording isn’t just about bass, but cheap speakers too, lots of friction and annoying, un-isolateable midrange, pre-Danzig wailing o’er the skull-fry, a palpable feeling of age and recluse. Having a guy from Unleashed and a guy from Count Raven and St. Vitus in the band doesn’t hurt either. In fact, it would be cool if a few 60+ fogies crawled out from under their rock wheelchairs and gave the genre some real rot.
