Wolfpac – Something Wicked This Way Comes – Review

Wolfpac

Something Wicked This Way Comes (Chord)
by Ryk McIntyre

You decide for yourself, but I’m passing on this one. I like ICP, I think they’re “funny,” so it’s not like low-brow, fuck-p.c. humor is abhorrent to me by nature, but Wolfpac have taken it one-choke over the line. When did serial-killer-chic hit the hardcore hip-hop world? Not that the music isn’t muscular, crushing and solid, nor that the rapping isn’t above the standard, nor the world-play seemlessly solid, it’s just… HEY GUYS! YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT STALKING, RAPING, AND TORTURE-MURDERS!!! What’s up with that? This is supposed to be funny? Keep in mind that one of these guys came from the Bloodhound Gang… did that band’s clever humor approach drive him psycho?

Whatever. If you think I’m being harsh, try listening to “Somethin’ Wicked,” “Death Becomes Her,” or “Six Disciples.” Turn up the volume really loud. Now imagine someone you know – girlfriend, sister, or mother – being the subject of these jaunty little morte-raps. If you don’t get that creepy-crawly sick feeling from the back of your neck to where your gut just sinks, then you’ll probably love this. You’re welcome to it.
