The Shutdowns – T-75 – Review

The Shutdowns

T-75 (Theologian)
by Scott Hefflon

The Shutdowns, not to be confused with Shutdown on Victory, have titled their record T-75 cuz it’s the 75th release on Theologian. Clever, huh? Hell, ya gotta call it something, right? Anyway, The Shutdowns are Mo Grease (Manic Hispanic, Ex-Grabbers), Rich and Erich (ex-Buckshot), Gus (ex-Jack of None), and Benny (ex-U.S. Bombs, Shattered Faith, and Lifestyle). Back-ups are provided by Steve Soto (22 Jacks, ex-Agent Orange and the Adolescents), and it was produced by Darian Rundall (Pennywise, US Bombs, etc.). Get the point? This all-star ensemble sounds great, rocks hard, and while it doesn’t sink it immediately, this is the kinda record you’ll pull out when yer sick of all the trendy shit you’ve been listening to and want something reliable to rock your dumb ass. You get the feeling this coulda come out five years ago or five years from now and it’d still be valid. They’ve got classic Orange County written all over them, and while it’s doubtful they’ll be “the next big thing,” these verterans’ll be around long after you’ve rinsed your mouth of the new flavor. Tried and true, this record’ll stay with ya.
