For you Dismember and Clandestine-era Entombed junkies, here’s an old school Swedish death metal treat for you. The funny thing is, Fleshcrawl are from Germany and this disc is a 1999 recording that sounds Tomas Skogsberg circa 1990 (it was recorded by Fredrick Nordstron in Sweden). Unoriginality aside, Fleshcrawl are such devotees of the classic Swedish sound that they’ve made a solid album saturated with chunky riffs and catchy yet brutal melodies. Though I’d rather stick to the true Scandinavian stuff, Fleshcrawl make an impressive new contribution to an older scene.
