Griffin – Wasteland Serenades – Review

Griffin

Wasteland Serenades (Season of Mist)
by Paul Lee

Thank the lord for big, bombastic metal forged in the furnaces of Norway. Forget “true metal” Swedes like Hammerfall, Griffin would easily lay waste to them in a battle to the death. These Norwegians let the furious riffs fly with all the power of a Panzer division. There’s plenty of Priest and Maiden influence along with bands like Diamond Head and Angel Witch. With respect for melody and a love of pure heavy metal thunder, Griffin have created one hell of a beast on Wasteland Serenades. This should stomp all over weak metal bands like Stratovarius and Rhapsody and show the pretty boys what it’s all about.
