Luckie Strike – Future is Turning – Review

Luckie Strike

Future is Turning (Tomato Head)
by Scott Hefflon

I’ve liked Luckie Strike since the start, so it’s no surprise this six-song EP rubs me the right way. With tight, powerful female vocals and a tendency to throw a dash of ska guitar upstroke into the peppy punk mix, it’s no wonder majors are sniffing around this band’s panties. Future is Turning is a little more storytelling mid-tempo than other releases, but with a good cover of Elvis Costello’s “Radio, Radio” (not as great as their cover of the Beach Boys’ “Sloop Jon B” on FastMusic’s The Mercury Project), it’s worth the few measly bucks they’re asking for this EP.
