Into Submission (Pavement)

If you take the bands that were lumped together and tagged “stoner rock,” they share a few traits: Tempo, tone, roots. If you take those points of intersection, and only those – minus individual flair, innate differences, and whatever-the-fuck-made-people-wanna-be influenced-by-‘m-anyways – you get the “generic model.” If that model has a strong enough tunesmith, it can still shine, if not… well, it’s for the completeists, the hardcore, the real gather-the-troops-kinda-fellas. Into… is no embarrassment, but distinctly within “the known.”
