Fall Silent – Six years in the Desert – Review

Fall Silent

Six years in the Desert (Revelation)
by Tim Den

A six-headed beast with two bass players and a few blastbeats short of powerviolence, Reno, Nevada’s Fall Silent sure is scary sounding. Imagine Black Flag’s reckless guitar razor and 7 Seconds’ youth crew/straight-edge message and you’re on your way. Add to that elements of black metal (!), Today Is The Day-ish noise, and a love for Jesus Christ (I’m serious), and you’ve got this confusing but no less intimidating abhorrence of nature. Fast as shit and funny as all hell (they cover “Sunny Days” (from Sesame Street)!!!!), I don’t know whether to fear their onslaught of lunacy or laugh at their experimentation with genres. One thing’s for sure: There aren’t many out there like ’em.
