Lacrimosa – Fassade – Review

Lacrimosa

Fassade (Nuclear Blast)
by Scott Hefflon

Lacrimosa play decent Goth metal with a variety of interesting quirks that make them noteworthy, but I just can’t get passed the atrocious cover and joltingly sudden fade-outs. For a band that’s supposedly wowed us for over a decade (gotta love bio bullshit – I’ve considered these guys filler Goth metal for years, and seeing as they supposedly helped found the genre, that kinda means they got dusted by the second generation, and that was a few generations ago!), you’d think that introverted symphonic mopers like this pair (a dood and a chick, surprise, surprise) would’ve gotten past the high school art and learned how to either finish a song or at least fade out better than simply turning the master volume down quickly when the song finally became just too tiresome to bear (insert heavy Gothic sigh)…
