Rabies Caste – Let the Soul Out and Cut the Vein – Review

Rabies Caste

Let the Soul Out and Cut the Vein (Earache)
by Paul Lee

As far as I know, Rabies Caste is the first modern metal band from Israel to get an international deal with a “big” label like Earache and this trio deserve it (Orphaned Land is great, but they’re more death/Middle Eastern metal). Drawing from such masters as Neurosis, Unsane, and maybe even a little Killing Joke, Rabies Caste have vomited forth a collection of songs that are fevered and saturated with bile. It’s fitting that a band of this stature should come from a part of the world where they need music like this just to keep from losing their minds. Though Earache’s recent releases have been somewhat lacking in excitement (The Haunted aside), Rabies Caste is a grand addition to the label.
