Gwar – Violence Has Arrived – Review

Gwar

Violence Has Arrived (Metal Blade)
by Vinnie Apicella

Violence Has Arrived finds the Antarctic mutants in their usual foul mood, and if the cover is any indication, blood is only the beginning. No longer consumed by their own drool, they sport ferocious looks, and it reflects in the playing. Tunes like “Battle Lust,” “Anti-Anti-Christ,” and “Beauteous Rot” take on more significance than your usual carnivorous carnival games – think the mighty riffs of “Rotten to the Core”-era Overkill.

Before you wonder if humor is the sacrificial lamb to power, fear not, “The Apes Of Wrath,” “Bloody Mary,” and “Biledriver” all offer proud proclamations that Gwar’s heart still lies somewhere in their nether regions. It’s another frightful and diabolical plunge into the bowels of indecency that shames their goofy We Kill Everything, and one many should recognize as amongst their greatest conquests.
