The Pasties – Platonica – Review

The Pasties

Platonica (Soapstar)
by Tim Den

Take the better “modern rock radio” bands, play Jellyfish for them, give them a few creative writing courses, and you have The Pasties. Smarter than the average crunchy popsters, the quartet rips through jazzy chords, stacked harmonies, and accentuated vocals like Vertical Horizon on a ’60s guitar pop kick. Guilty pleasure? Yes sir, you betcha.

Even with the occasional run-of-the-mill corporate-rock-sounding tunes (“Average Day”), I’ll take them over Nickelback and Tommy Lee’s solo album (the world is REALLY coming to an end) any day. Cuz face it, good pop’s so hard to find these days.
