Corporation 187 – Perfection In Pain – Review

Corporation 187

Perfection In Pain (Wicked World/Earache)
by Martin Popoff

Saddled with a stupid name, Corporation 187 shouldn’t be releasing albums at exactly the same time as The Haunted. Fortunately, these Swedes musically shock the senses like tinfoil on a filling, while new vocalist Filip Carlsson (the bassist in the band when they were a Slayer cover act) does the standard scratchy scowl, not bad at all, same as everybody else, no improvement over anybody else screaming their head off over a lockbox stuffed with Swede-throttled thrash. Stuck in that netherzone amidst Carnal Forge, Dew-Scented, and Darkane, Corporation 187 do nothing wrong, but neither do they offer the dynamic personalities of a Darkane or The Haunted. It’s only their second record, and the talent enclosed is frightening (not to mention this is one of Peter Tägtgren’s sharpest recordings). Now it’s time to swing high and low on the songs and not just continually saw away, an element you know the band is aware of, given the fact they called it a day’s wages after 35 minutes.
