Lacrimas Profundere – Fall, I Will Follow – Review

July 23, 2003 Bands, CDs, Metal/Hardcore Review, Reviews

Lacrimas Profundere

Fall, I Will Follow (Napalm)
by Scott Hefflon

I’m a big ol’ sucker for Goth metal, and while German veterans Lacrimas Profundere still don’t stroke me as especially exceptional, there are some big, beautifully dark and sweeping passages on Fall, I Will Follow. If Top 40 Radio plays that Evanescence song “Going Under” without realizing it’s simply just a good example of a HUGE underground genre, there’s no reason Lacrimas Profundere and a few dozen others (The Gathering, Entwine, The Cruxshadows, To/Die/For, shit, how many more ya want?) couldn’t get some play.

Then again, Evanescence is Christian, on Wind Up (Creed’s label), and Top 40 pop fans have no attention span, much less any desire to find other cool stuff like what they like, they just lap up whatever they’re spoonfed. I’m a big fan of Poisonblack (guitarist from Sentenced), but I don’t expect too many Suicide Girls to list it among their favorite bands. Bloody shame.
