Wer Next Project (Come Closer)

Christopher is engaging and enjoyable to listen to but very troubling for a music journalist to describe. His debut album, Wer Next Projekt, sounds like a very remarkable mix of King Black Acid meets Dead Can Dance meets Nine Inch Nails. The structure of the album is pure art-rock/classical that seems to be broken up by three major movements marked by the tracks “Nokturne,” “Waiting for Pussy… Willow,” and “What Is Your Threshold For” that are 17, 13, and 10 minutes respectively in duration.

What’s even more remarkable is that Christopher performed all of the instrumentals, and 95% of the vocals, both male and female parts. The vocals are haunting, intense, sedate, and primal. Eastern and Celtic influences used in a stylish Dead Can Dance way abound.

Wer Next Projekt is a highly-recommended album for Dead Can Dance/Enigma/Ashengrace fans that want an epic album on the scale of Nine Inch Nails’ The Fragile. A sparkling underground gem to share with your friends.
