Dirty Water

I was blown away by this record. Dirty Water‘s stuff is “Social D good.” Actually, in some cases, much better. This CD is an EP at best, so be forewarned, but the 20 minutes you get is worth every penny. This is some serious rock ‘n’ roll. Why on earth this is on a street punk label – ironically called Street Anthem – is curious, because it’s as far from generic street punk as you can get. The people at this label deserve high praise for having the brains to seize the opportunity to put this record out. I just hope they were smart enough to retain the rights, because I think this band can go places. Actually, Dirty Water themselves seem kinda confused about their label, as this quote from their website suggests: “The debut CD/EP was released on a street punk label, Street Anthem Records, in 2003 but the scope of the band’s sound is beyond what is expected of a street punk band.”

That is the understatement of the year. If you can find this record, freaking buy it, so you can say “I told you so” to your friends when their first full-length hits the shelves and they go apeshit over it.
