The Plague – Epidemic – Review

The Plague

Epidemic (Devils Head)
by Adrian Bromley

With a sinister thrashing sound reminiscent of what the Germans were offering us in the mid to late ’80s, young’uns The Plague stand their ground as their furious display of metal know-how unfolds. While a large makeup of The Plague’s sound is thrash metal, there is a prominent hardcore/noisecore sound coating their attack, and that offers up an interesting sound. It’s quite interesting to hear the band hit a nice stride as the gravid hardcore edge just lumbers along adding a thick, heavy vibe to their attack. I think the production could’ve been a bit better, getting a more solid edge to attach to the metal assault, but that’s why debut albums are learning experiences.
