The Snake The Cross The Crown – Like A Moth Before A Flame – Review

The Snake The Cross The Crown

Like A Moth Before A Flame (Waste of Time)
by Lauren Bussard

The Snake The Cross The Crown has jumped straight from Alabama into the big time. With their six-song debut, Like A Moth Before A Flame, they’ve managed to mix melodic indie rock and hook-laden emo with just a touch of ’80s-influenced pop-rock, and created a thoroughly impressive first effort. My favorite track is “The Contortionist,” which wraps me up in its heart-wrenching vocals and haunting melodies. On the last song, “Burning Old Stories,” the singer’s voice definitely reminds me of the singer from Rush, but not in a bad way, I promise.
